Finally, I got my Scrapbook Creations Magazine in the post. How exciting!!! These are my first two cards every published in a magazine. They are on page 90 and 91 in the Card Gallery section of the magazine. I have been playing around with Distress Inks for a while now, and was so excited to hear they wanted my cards. They asked me to create 4 more for them with instructions on how to make them. These are also focusing on distress inks.These will be in the April addition of the magazine coming out today. It's a special addition with Kaszazz headlining the front cover. I believe the DVD that comes with it will be based on some Kaszazz projects being demonstrated. Can't wait to get that issue!

Shrinky Dink Hang-It and Card

I created these cute little hang-it and card combo's. I am running this workshop on the weekend. You choose either the girl or boy. It involes stamping, embosing, shrinky dinks, punching, lyra crayons, cutting and gel pens. You get to learn how to color in your spiral clips to match you project, without it coming off! Plastic Paint Dabber Frame

I designed this frame for TTD. It involves using black paint dabber on the plastic as well as ancient page for the Love stamp. I used brushed pewter crackle paint for the two hearts. I used the Reason, Season, Lifetime stamp across the large green flower. I also used silver gel pen on some of the flowers.

This is an awsome layout. It was designed by Jo Collingwood. It uses a couple of the new range of Romance SB papers. Of course the mounts for the photos could be done in any range of bazzill you like. There are chipboard pop-outs used, and some of the new range of Romance stamps. These are done with white embossing powder. The matt for the photos are stamped with the new elegant flourish stamp. This is a $30 workshop.

Team Training Day ( January 2010)

This is a piccy of Team Training Day. We got to learn some new techniques and play with some new products. It's a good opportunity for consultants and potential recruits to get together and create. It's also a good time to share some ideas around with each other, which we did. Quite a few participated in the competition to design a new workshop using some of the new products. It was very successful. There were some lovely creations with such a lot of imagination used. Well done to all those who had a go!! This is the first TTD I have run on my own. I was a little nervous, but it all went pretty smoothly. I think every one enjoyed themselves, I know I did!

Romance Frame-It

This is the Frame that we made at TTD. It was created by Sonia Edwards. It uses the papers out of the new Romance range. It also uses the new word sticky bling. The chandelier is stamped with silver pigment ink and silver embossing powder. Then it is decorated with picket fence distress stickles, glossy accents and ice stickles. Between the red organdy ribbon and the decorative strip down the side there is a line of brushed pewter distress stickles. This is a $30 workshop.

Romance Cards

These are the cards that we did at Team Training Day. They are designed by Lorraine Paton. They are using the cut-out sheet from the new Romance range of papers. The swirls and done with black distress ink and red distress embossing powders. You can use any distress inks with any embossing powders, but you have tobe quick getting it on, as it dries a lot quicker than embossing ink. The edges of each cutout piece is edged with the new paper distersser. What a great little tool! This is a $20 workshop.

Distress Resist Card

This card I designed using the kaszazz magnolia stamp embossed with vintage photo distress ink. This is a resist technique. I then used distress ink stamped onto a plastic sheet and spritzed with water and dried with a heat tool. I also added some perfect pearls mixed with water in a mini mister to give a shimmery effect. The edges of the tag and matt are distressed with scissors.

I ran this Kaszazz workshop on the weekend. It was created by Gaye Ellis. I had a nice group of school children (around 13-14) doing this. They loved it. The size is about 9.8x7.3cm. Yes it is small, but very cute!! It has 5 pages to it each with a little tag that you can pull out of each one, and write on etc. Some were going to put photos in it, others were going to put important events and dates in it and keep it in their handbag. Engagement Card

I made this card for a friend's engagement. I silver embossed the edges of the black essentials card and the two hearts from our Treasured Memories set of stamps . I used white essentials cardstock and wedding vellum over the top of the card. The silver wedding flip album I made earlier in the Beyond the Page Blog Post is part of their present, and they go very nicely together.

Distress Ink Tags

I designed these tags. They are all focussing on Distress Inks.

This is a masking and blending technique. You blend your tag first with the desired colors using your blending tool. Then you stamp your butterfly. You create another butterfly out of paper and cut out. This is your mask. You apply the butterfly mask over the stamped butterfly using non permanent tape, and stamp your flourish over the top. Then you remove your butterfly mask. I then colored the butterfly in with the distress ink smooched onto a plastic sheet and used my aquash brush.

This is was applied by stamping the ink pad onto a plastic sheet, and spritzing with water. Then I used the blending tool to apply the ink to the tag. I stamped my image with the distress ink and embossed it. Yes distress inks can be embossed, but you have to work quickly.
I first stamped my image with the embossing pad and used white embossing powder. This was my resist image. Then I used two colors stamped onto my plastic sheet and spritzed with water until it beads. I then put the tag directly on the spritzed distress ink. I dried it off with the heat gun and repeated the process 2 more times. Then I spritzed it with a mixture of water and perfects pearls in my mini mister and heat set again. It leaves a nice shimmery effect.

Shrinky Dink Tag

This demo tag was designed by me. It involves stamping and shrinky dinks. You can practically use any ink and coloring tools you like on shrinky dinks, even lyra crayons as long as you paint it on as a water color. You just can't put crayons directly on to the shrinky dinks. (I found this out from the anonymous person who left a comment on my blog - Thanks for the tip!) I like to color in on the bottom (rough) and stamp my image on top (shiny). I just stamped on top with this tag. I used glossy accents to hold the shrinky on as this is not only a good 3D embellishment but is also a very strong glue.

Make & Take and Demonstration mini gift cards/bookmark

This card is a demo card using shrinky dinks. The shrinky dink was punched out with the Super butterfly punch, colored in with fluid chalk on the rough side, then stamped with a flourish stamp on the shiny top side with ancient page. Then the butterfly was shrunk using a heat gun.

The same stamp is used to stamp the design onto the Bahama Bazzill strip.

This is also a demo card, using white crackle paint. After completely dry the flowers were edged using a hydra sponge and Aged Mahogany distress ink.
This is a demo bookmark using perfect pearls and watermark ink pad. The centre of the flowers and butterfly are colored in using perfect pearls and an aquash brush. The centres have ice stickles.
In these cards I used the watermark technique. Stamping with a watermark ink pad onto your cardstock leaves a watermark, a slightly deeper color than the cardstock. The Juneberry (deep red color) is the one I demonstrate. The other I just show as an alternative as to what you can do.These cards are made using the resist technique. You stamp on glossy paper with the watermark ink pad, let completely dry (using a heat gun if you have one) then swipe over with fluid chalk or vivid ink. The blue card is actually embossed with white embossing powder just to show a contrast in the two types of resist techniques. The purple card is the Make and Take card. The others are just to show as an alternative.I sent these five items into Kaszazz for publishing and they got accepted, Yay! So will be available to all consultants soon. Ooh-La-La Album in a Box

This Ooh La La album is a really cute set. It is designed by Karen Turner and is a $30 workshop. My daughter Katelyn made this up on the weekend. I think she has a liking for the Glitz bazzill. It's very shiny. It consists of 8 little squares to put your photos on. The fronts of them have the squares from the cut out sheet of the Ooh La La range of papers. On the back they have a little decoration across the bottom and a space above for your photos. The box is just really cute too and is very strong and sturdy. It consists of the Ooh La La papers, Glitz bazzill, punches and embellishments.

Team Training Day - September

We had team training day at my house yesterday. The idea of these days is for consultants to make up some new workshops using the products out of the new flier. It was fantastic, seeing all the Kaszazz consultants njoy doing the projects and having so much fun. We made two layouts based on a school theme. We also made three cards all using the water color crayons. Our new Kaszazz flier release was a massive 16 pages. Mostly on school papers - "School Days" range, stamps and embellishments. There were some new quick kits and products too. Can't wait to put in my order. They will definately have some of the new smooches and stamps.

Photos to do with shutter speed

I took these three photos today using the TV setting on my camera. The TV setting is to do with the shutter speed. This is the amount of time the shutter opens to let light onto your film. Have any of you taken pictures of your children when they have been jumping around, and they have all turned out blurry, even on the sports setting. If you adjust the shutter speed you can solve this problem. A fast shutter speed decreases the amount of light getting in, which enables you to take a picture of something moving fast. The three pictures above were taken at 1/500. On the other hand, if you want to take a picture of say a waterfall, and get the water kind of moving, to create a mist, then you would need a slow shutter speed say at 2 seconds. Once again, the aperture (focus side of things) would automatically set itself in this setting. But you would also need a tripod for this kind of photo. I haven't tried this yet, but can't wait to do so. There are so many things I want to learn, but you have to start somewhere. Getting the right shot for your layouts, makes all the difference.

Scenery photos with aperture adjustment

I have just been doing a little bit of research into taking pictures. I really liked the way photos were taken to make you focus on a particular thing in the picture and make it stand out. Sometimes if you take a picture of a small creature on a flower and the whole picture is in focus, the creature doesn't stand out. If the creature is small enough, you may not even know where to look in the photo. The idea of making the background blurry, draws people's eye to the focused image. This technique is used by changing the aperture, which is the camera's eye. Make the aperture or eye small eg 2.8 (pictures above) and the depth of field is small. In other words the picture in front that you are focusing on is in focus but everything else is a blur. If you want more of the picture in focus change your aperture to a larger number. You can do this on your AV setting of your camera, then it will automatically change the shutter speed (which you also need to be right) accordingly. Of course I had to have it set on super macro to get in so close. These are just three of my attempts at doing this today.
